NILE Ranch Rodeo
October 21, 2023
At the NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals, you’ll find real working cowboys going head to head in events that simulate those on an actual working ranch. With a preliminary round taking place the day before, only 10 teams make it to the finals on Saturday night.
Teams of four compete in Team Branding, Team Doctoring, and Team Trailering for the preliminary round. Teams that make it to the finals compete in the same events as the preliminary round plus a fourth event: Wild Cow Milking. In addition to the team events during the finals, a standalone Ranch Bronc Ride kicks the night off. This event has no impact on team scores, but gives cowboys a chance to win some extra money.
These events are supposed to imitate tasks that are done on the ranch. Broncs have to be tamed, mama cows must be out-maneuvered, calves need branded, sick steers need doctored, and yearlings have to be loaded up. Although the prairies and pasture don’t have a big screen with instant replay, it’s a close representation of what cowhands do on the range.
The night wraps up with Dance in the Dirt, which is included in the Ranch Rodeo ticket. Head on down to the arena floor for a concert and a great time!
